Better Band Heaters

Better Band Heaters

Recognising the need for a heater with operating temperature capabilities exceeding that of the mica-insulated bands, Fast Heat pioneered the development of the ceramic mineral insulated band heater.

The Better Band has been designed to out perform any other type of band in virtually any application. This makes it the best choice for the plastics industry, especially when processing engineering-grade materials.

Features & Benefits

  • Ceramic mineral insulated band heater.
  • Maxium watt densities far in excess of any other type of band.
  • Highest application temperatures available (760oC / 1400oF).
  • Reduced number and physical size of heaters required per application.

Termination Styles

Type N Termination

Type 'N' - Flexible Leads Near Gap

  • Bands are available with leads exiting axially on each side of the gap.
  • Supplied with full contact clamping for longer heater life.
  • 300mm (12 inch) leads standard, other lengths available on request.
  • See termination chart.
Type C Termination

Type 'C' - Flexible Leads Opposite Gap

  • Standard lead exit opposite the gap.
  • 300mm (12 inch) leads standard, other lengths available on request.
  • Cap is welded onto sheath.
  • Various lead protection options are available.
  • See termination chart.
Type CL Termination

Type 'CL' - Flexible Leads With Cap Opposite Gap

  • Leads exiting axially through cap and tube opposite gap.
  • 300mm (12 inch) leads standard, other lengths are available on request.
  • Cap and tube give protection near the sheath.
  • Additional protection is available.
  • See termination chart.
Type CL90 Termination

Type 'CL90' - Flexible Leads With 90 Degree Cap Opposite Gap

  • Leads exiting through cap and tube along length opposite gap.
  • 300mm (12 inch) leads standard, other lengths are available on request.
  • Cap and tube give protection near the sheath.
  • See termination chart.
Type CL45 Termination

Type 'CL45' - Flexible Leads With Angled Cap Opposite Gap

  • Leads exiting through cap and tube along length opposite gap.
  • Having the lead exit / tube raised up at an angle allows heaters to be positioned immediately next to one another without having the leads come into contact with adjacent heaters.
  • The angle of the tube (A in diagram) may be specified at 15, 30 or 45 degrees.
  • 300mm (12 inch) leads standard, other lengths are available on request.
  • Cap and tube give protection near the sheath.
  • See termination chart.

Lead Options

Plain Leads

Plain Leads

  • Jacketed for continuous service up to 250oC (482oF) with nickel stranded conductors.
  • High temperature mica tape lead wire is suitable up to 450oC (842oF) maximum, with Nickel stranded conductors.
  • Better bands come as standard with mica tape.
Silicone Sleeving

Silicone Sleeving

  • Fibreglass silicone rubber coated sleeving class c - 1, 200oC (392oF) service.
  • Provides extra insulation where wire is exposed to heat, molten plastics or abrasion.
  • Rated at 1500V at 200oC (428oF).
Stainless Steel Braid

Stainless Steel Braid

  • Stainless Steel over braid is most commonly specified in applications where leads may be subjected to abrasion due to movement of the application, lead wires may be rubbing together or passing over sharp objects.
Stainless Steel Armour

Stainless Steel Armour

  • Used over leads in areas where more protection is necessary.
  • Selected for similar applications as the Stainless Steel Braid, in addition to applications where non-fluid contamination may come in contact with the leads.
  • The lead protection is not as flexible as Stainless Steel Braid.
