Infrakote - Heat Transfer Compound |

![]() Infra-Kote is a heat-sinking compound for improving the transfer of heat away from the heater into the application. Applying Infra-Kote over the surface of the heater fills holes and slight deformations to reduce hot spots and remove the air gap between the heater and the load. This improves the warm up time and increases the reliability of the heater. The petroleum base material used in Infra-Kote has a continuous operational temperature of 180oC (350oF). At this temperature, the compound offers both lubricating and corrosion protection. At temperatures exceeding 300oC (550oF), the solid filters take over the job of preventing seizing and galling between the surfaces. Infra-Kote is ideally suited to these applications: - |

Heater BandsBy brushing Infra-Kote onto the barrel and inside of heater bands, this fills the microscopic pores and eliminates air gaps under band type heaters. This enables the heat to be more uniformly conducted away, leading to extended life and improved heat input. In the case of heater bands, which operate around 500oC (1000oF), the petroleum base material will decompose at 300oC (550oF) leaving behind the solid fillers which will continue to aid in heat transfer and anti-galling properties up to 1100oC (2000oF). Cartridge HeatersApplying liberally to cartridge heaters provides better heat transfer. This lets you safely use larger tolerances on cartridge heater holes. Infra-Kote eliminates hot spots that cause cartridges to burn out. Solid State RelaysApplying to the base of Solid State Relays before fitting to a metal surface or heatsink will improve the transfer of heat to the heatsink and increase the life and reliability of the SSR. |
